Maser monitoring and VLBI
Title: Maser monitoring and VLBI
Speaker: Dr. Gabor Orosz (University of Tasmania, Australia)
Location: Small conference room, 3rd floor
Time: 10:00 AM, May 14, 2019 (Tuesday)
Summary: I’m going to introduce large-scale maser monitoring programs and their follow-up observations with very long baseline interferometry (VLBI). I’m going to show you maser flares, never-before-seen maser transitions, and dynamically changing maser profiles – all of which can tell us about key events in massive star formation and evolved stellar evolution. I’m also going to shortly introduce the ongoing efforts towards creating a complete map of the 3D spiral structure of our Milky Way Galaxy using masers and and VLBI.
