Chemical Modeling of the Interstellar medium
Title: Chemical Modeling of the Interstellar medium
Time: August 17 (Friday), 3 pm
Allocation: 3rd floor, small conference room
Speaker: Dr. Fujun Du (Purple Mountain Observatory, CAS)
Abstract:
The interstellar medium (ISM) is basically gas and dust. Under the action of radiation field and cosmic rays, the ISM shows a vast chemical richness. Understanding this richness helps to infer the physical state of the medium, and to study the birth of stars and the origin of life-related molecules. In this talk I will introduce the basic framework of chemical modeling of ISM, touching upon especially the modeling of grain chemistry, and will show some typical results and discuss some challenges we face.
